The answer is through something called a tag. When these are added to your website, they allow Google to share data from your website with various products like Google Analytics and Google Ads.

 

Google Tag Manager is a tool that helps you set up and manage these tags so that you can accurately track all kinds of important metrics related to your websites and pages.

One of the challenges with Google tags is that they can add up fairly quickly, and can be a lot to keep track of. This is where Google’s Global Site Tag comes in. It’s one single tag that you can add to your website that allows you to use a range of different Google tracking services.
